Frances Ann Cole
October 29, 1938 – August 29, 2014
Frances Ann Cole, of New York City’s Upper West Side, died on August 29, 2014 after a long illness. Ms. Cole was 76 years old.
A graduate of MacMurray College, Ms. Cole received an MFA in costume design from Northwestern University. At Northwestern, Ms. Cole met her husband Barry Cole, with whom she lived in Sydney, Australia; Austin, Texas; Bloomington, Indiana; McLean, Virginia; and Traverse City, Michigan.
In addition to working as a copy editor for Oxford University Press, Ms. Cole designed costumes for the Madeira School, Interlochen Center for the Arts, and Pulse Ensemble Theatre, among others. Ms. Cole was also an accomplished pianist who spent several years in Lehigh Acres, Florida caring for her mother.
Ms. Cole is survived by her two children, Tracy Cole Barker of Bronxville, New York and Kelly Cole Dobson of Glen Echo, Maryland, and her four grandchildren: Allison Barker, Megan Barker, Katharine Dobson and Liam Dobson.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 13 at 11 a.m. at Christ Church Bronxville, 17 Sagamore Rd, Bronxville, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to The Doe Fund: Ready, Willing and Able (www.doe.org/help.cfm).
