CASTRY, MARIE – Marie Castry, 86, a longtime resident of Yonkers, died Thursday, January 7 at Bentley Village Care Center, Naples, Florida after a brief illness. Marie was born January 16, 1929 Bronx, NY, the daughter of Gustav H. and Emma (Kramer) Minne. She was a first generation born American, with her parents originating from Grone (Gottingen) Lower Saxony, Germany, and Steinalben, Rhineland-Pfalz, Germany. On October 6, 1951 at the Church of St. Paul the Apostle, Yonkers, she married Anthony J. Castry who passed away in 2007. Marie graduated from Cathedral High School (Archbishop Hughes Memorial High School) in Manhattan, NY in 1946 and on V-Day was present with her classmates at St. Patrick Cathedral as the cathedral’s bells rung. She worked for a time for New York Life Insurance Co. in Manhattan, and later for Ragette Real Estate in Eastchester, NY and RE/MAX Prime Properties in Scarsdale. Marie was a parishioner of the Church of Saint Eugene in Yonkers and a volunteer for the Girl Scouts for many years. She is survived by a daughter, Annemarie (Michael) Jardon of Bonita Springs, FL; son Gerard Castry (Laura) of Salford, PA; three granddaughters, Regina, Jessica and Victoria Jardon, and a brother, Robert A. Long. She was predeceased by her son, Christopher in 1956, by her parents and her stepfather, Anthony Long. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at 11:00 am at Roman Catholic Church of Saint Eugene, 707 Tuckahoe Road, Yonkers, NY 10710. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 West Stevens Ave., Hawthorne, NY 10532.
