Mary Cartelli, 89, of Bronxville, died peacefully on April 28, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Cartelli. Loving mother of Nancy Cartelli, Joanne (Peter) DiIorio, Donna (Jack) Bonacorso, Joseph (Karen) Cartelli & Domenic (Kerri) Cartelli. Devoted grandmother of Jacob & Elizabeth Avila, Laura (fiancé Matthew Moran), Suzanne (fiancé Bryan Zudick) & Peter Joseph DiIorio, Bryana (fiancé Brandon Snyder), Kayleigh, & Jack Bonacorso, Joseph, Jonathan, James, & Kelly Cartelli, & Domenic, Anna, Charlotte & William Cartelli. Dear sister of Anne Fioravanti, Frank Orsini, Phyllis Moccia & the late Alberto Orsini. Mary was a strong, remarkable woman who had firm ideals, & high standards for herself & others. Growing up in the Bronx as one of five children, she endured the Depression & WWII with an unwavering optimism & lust for life. She married a warm & loving man of similarly high ideals, & they quickly built a family. She lost her life partner after 25 years, but still managed to raise five wonderful children to be productive, responsible & loving adults. Mary will always be remembered for her intelligence, broadmindedness, generosity & kindness. Her life was guided by her strong faith in God & she was a very active parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Calling hours at the Fred H. McGrath & Son Funeral Home, Bronxville, on Sunday, April 30, between the hours of 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 7:00pm to 9:00pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Catholic Charities of New York.Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph’s Church, Bronxville, on Monday, May1 at 9:45 am.
