Rita Murphy Bundschuh, a long-time resident of Eastchester, died peacefully at home on July 2, 2014. Mrs. Bundschuh was born in Palatka, Florida to John and Jessica Poole Murphy. She attended The Ursuline School and the College of New Rochelle. In 1943 she married Gabriel J. Bundschuh. Mrs. Bundschuh had been an active parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church in Tuckahoe. She was a volunteer at Lawrence Hospital for many years, and a member of The Bronxville Women’s Club, Orienta Beach Club, and Siwanoy Country Club. She also assisted her husband and son in the insurance business, Gabriel Bundschuh and Associates.Mrs. Bundschuh was predeceased by her husband, a daughter, Joan DeVita, and her sister, Harriet Lillis of Buffalo. She is survived by daughters, Rita Fitzpatrick (Paul) of Bronxville, Susan Davidson (Kevin) of Darien, CT, Pamela Koch (Robert) of Morristown, NJ, Noelle McCann (Shaun) of Redlands, CA, and son, Gabriel J. Bundschuh, Jr. (Renee) of Bronxville. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and her care-giver, Cynthia Asamoah. Calling hours at the Fred H. McGrath & Son, Funeral Home, Bronxville, between the hours of 5 to 8 pm Monday. Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Conception Church, Tuckahoe, on Tuesday, July 8, at 10:30. Interment Holy Mt. Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family is establishing The Rita Bundschuh Foundation for nursing education. When details are completed they will be posted on the mcgrathandson.com website.
