John Peale Bent, Jr (79) of Hillsboro Beach, FL and Essex, CT, died suddenly on April 16. He graduated from Hotchkiss (54) and Yale (58). After a career in finance, he transitioned to volunteer leadership in medicine and education. He was the beloved husband for 55 years of Janet Blackwell Bent, devoted father of John III (Rebecca), David (Robbie), and Stephen (Christine), and adoring grandfather of Zoe, Gemma, Faith, Addison, Clara, Blake, Chase, and Brooke. His brother Stephen P Bent also survives him. A memorial service will be held at First Congregational Church in Old Lyme, CT at 200pm May 7.
