Memorial Service: 11 am, Saturday, September 7, 2013 at the Reformed Church of Bronxville
Ahlgren, John R., of Bronxville, died on July 15, 2013. Son of Gustav Ahlgren and Lydia Konradson Ahlgren, and husband of the late Wynne G. Ahlgren, he was born in Manchester, New Hampshire, on October 9, 1920. After graduating from Dartmouth College in 1941, he entered Cornell Law School, but left after the attack on Pearl Harbor to join the United States Navy where he was assigned to Admiral Nimitz’s Headquarters Staff there. He later studied Russian and was assigned to the United States Embassy in Moscow from 1946 to 1947. He settled in New York where he became a Vice President of the Irving Trust Company. Mr. Ahlgren was a member of the Reformed Church in Bronxville, the Bronxville Rotary Club, Siwanoy Country Club and the Hillsboro Club in Hillsboro, Florida. He is survived by eleven nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at The Reformed Church in Bronxville on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 11 AM.
