John passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, September 20th, surrounded by his family. Born in the Bronx, John spent the last 50 years of his life in his beloved home in Bronxville, New York. He often said he never wanted to live anywhere else, and the community and memories he built there brought him great joy.
John is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marybeth; his children, Elizabeth (and her husband Bob), and John (and his wife Beth); his six grandchildren, Robert, Sam, Raymond, Addison, Michael, and Bridget; and his much-loved rescue cat, Missy.
John treasured vacations in Vermont, where he enjoyed spending time with loved ones near Lake Champlain. He had a remarkable compassion for animals, from his dog Snoopy to the many, many stray cats that somehow found their way to his doorstep. He faithfully supported countless animal rescues and charities.
John graduated from Iona College, where he became a lifelong fan of the Gaels basketball team and enthusiastically cheered their memorable NIT and NCAA tournament appearances. He later earned his MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business and built a distinguished career in finance.
While John’s professional achievements were significant, those who knew him best will remember his kindness and generosity along with his intellect and wry sense of humor. He lived a life filled with love, loyalty, and quiet acts of generosity that touched countless people and animals alike. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the friendships he nurtured, and the many lives he made brighter.
