Mary (Maureen) Scully (née Cosgrove), 76, of Bronxville, NY died peacefully at home after a brief illness on February 1, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.
Maureen was born in County Mayo, Ireland in 1945. In 1964, she emigrated to New York, eventually settling in the Bronx. In 1973, she married Michael Scully (deceased), with whom she raised two loving children, Mairead and Kevin.
Maureen worked for over 40 years in Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, first in food service, then as a waitress at The Top of the Nines restaurant, and eventually as a medical billing coder. When she retired in 2010, she devoted her life to her grandchildren, who adored her. Maureen will be always be remembered for her kind and loving nature. She took care of everyone around her, and she loved to travel back to Ireland as often as she could to visit with family and friends. She will be missed by all who knew her, and most especially by her family, who loved her beyond measure.
Maureen is survived by her children Mairead Treacy (Rob Treacy) and Kevin Scully; grandchildren Cate, Sean, Julia and Bobby Treacy; sisters Cathy McKiernan, Una Waters and Sheila Charles; brothers Tom Cosgrove, Noel Cosgrove and John Cosgrove; and many loving sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours with the family are from 4:00 -8:00 PM on Friday, February 4th at McGrath and Son Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at the Church of Annunciation in Crestwood, NY at 10 AM on Saturday, February 5th.
