Though your life has passed like the setting sun
Your warmth remains and your praises sung
Lest we forget, take comfort in the moon
In smiling faces reflecting life, lost too soon
And the placid waters bathed in golden light
Are a constant reminder of all you’ve done right
Your memory will come and it will go
As surely as the moon tide flow
But always know that you’ll live on
Surviving in us, in each new dawn

June 29, 2021 at 4:05 pmJim was foremost a teacher, and of the neediest children. As a union leader he devoted himself, and at times at great personal cost, to others and their rightful place at work and in their their careers. Beyond his contribution to education and his fellow workers he was my friend and I am deeply saddened to know he is no longer with us.

July 3, 2021 at 12:39 amTo my dear, dear father,
“I’m dying. I love you guys.” Those were the last words that my father uttered before his voice gave out. They were directed at my mother and I, but I believe he wanted those words passed on to others. He meant those words for everyone else too.
Once you became one of dad’s people, you stayed that way, and he would fight fiercely to protect you and help you whenever needed. He always had the answers, he always had a solution. And if he didn’t on the spot, he would find a way.
I grew up on many stories of people turning to my parents for help with something or another. One such tale involved the child of one of our neighbors, the Groarks. Brian needed supplies for a school project and rather than turning to a craft store, the first thought was to ask mom and dad. On the way to our house from up the road, he turned to his dad and asked “does everybody have a Pat and Jimmy?” That’s just the kind of people they are. The kind of person dad was.
Not to overuse a line, but dad would have literally given the shirt off his back to a stranger in need, no questions asked. He would spend hours on the phone daily, fighting for one friend’s cause or another. He was often, well, almost always late to picking me up from school because he was so busy helping every person he possibly could. He touched the lives of hundreds, and probably thousands, in at least some small way.
And despite the innumerable hours he dedicated to helping others, he still found time for us, and especially me. He could be tough on me, but at the same time I know he would have given me the world if he could. He was my biggest supporter and cheerleader, and I’m sure others could say the same. When I first went away to college, I wasted my first semester. I started working, and despite failing at school for a while, he was proud of me. When I finally went back to college after working for several years I was set on making it up to him and my mom for all the trouble I put them through. He was proud of me for going back. He was proud of me for my grades and proud of my growth all around in general. He was always there.
He let me walk my own path and encouraged me every step of the way. My only regret it that he will never see me graduate, one semester from now. But he was there it’s because of him that I’ve made it to where I am now. It’s because of his unwavering love, altruism, and devotion that so many people have been brought together in mourning his passing. It’s because of and for him that we’ll continue on. So here’s to you, dad. Watch us. Take pride in us, because you’ve impacted everyone you’ve touched for the better. I love you, dad. I love you most.

July 3, 2021 at 12:31 pmDearest Pat & Maggie, the Enderlins are still in shock with this sudden and sad news. My oldest Cousin was always the kindest soul to his youngest cousin and I will cherish the times he would kid me and say, “Richid, what happened to yaw Lakiz” in that ever so soft tone with his wonderful Bronx accent and a smile that went from east coast to west. May you both cherish the million more memories that he provided you and I’m quite certain he has already been met in Heaven’s lobby bar with his Uncle Bob, Aunt Lou, Uncle Mike and of course my Aunt Angie and Uncle Nick. He will forever be sorely missed.

July 3, 2021 at 7:11 pmI am anguished to hear about my cousin Jimmy. I am so sorry, and shocked. I just heard about Jimmy today, 7.3.2021, or I would have contacted you all sooner. I spent the whole day thinking about Jimmy and my Carfaro cousins, when you came to visit our home in Valhalla for cook-outs when we were in high school, with all of Jimmy’s Bronx Bomber friends, all with appetites for the ages. I will always remember him with a laugh and smile on his face. I just hope he is not in Heaven correcting my grammar in this email….Sue and I send our love, to all of you….Jimmy was the best of us, and I am very hurt to hear of his passing……cousin Bobby
