Sheerin, Patricia March 21, 1947 - March 4, 2020

SCARSDALE – Patricia A. Sheerin of Scarsdale NY passed away peacefully on March 4, 2020 at the age of 72, after a prolonged period of ill health. Born in New Rochelle NY on March 21, 1947, she was the daughter of William Irwin and Geraldine Kelly Irwin, both of whom predeceased her. She is survived by her husband William and her son Christopher.

A graduate of Holy Family Elementary School and of The Ursuline School in New Rochelle, Pat earned a B.A. In Fine Arts from the College of Mount Saint Vincent in 1969. A talented artist and interior decorator, she worked for Neal Goldman Associates, a design firm in Manhattan, and for the Frank B. Hall Corporation in Briarcliff Manor where she served as administrative assistant to the Vice Chairman of the Board.

She married William Sheerin, formerly of Garden City NY, in 1971. After their wedding, the couple lived for many years in Bronxville, before moving to the Strathmore section of Scarsdale in 1988. Over the years, Pat co-chaired the PTA’s Cultural Arts Committee at School 8 in Yonkers, participated in the Hackley School Parents Association, and was a member of the Junior League of Bronxville—where she did vision & hearing screening of young children and worked at a thrift shop which the League used to run in Tuckahoe NY.

Definitely not a “winter person,” Pat enjoyed warm-weather outings to Jones Beach, the Hamptons, and Cape Cod. She spent many happy hours at the Larchmont Shore Club, to which the family belonged for fifteen years, and vacationed at Captain Gosnold Village in Hyannis MA, where they owned a cottage. A gourmet cook, she entertained often and enjoyed going out to eat with friends and family at restaurants in Westchester and New York City.

Visitation will be at Fred H. McGrath & Son Funeral Home, 20 Cedar Street, Bronxville NY, on Sunday, March 8, 2020 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. A funeral Mass will be held at the Church of St. Joseph, 15 Cedar Street, Bronxville NY, on Monday, March 9, 2020 at 9:45 AM. Burial at the Cemetery of the Holy Rood, Westbury, NY, will follow the funeral Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Michael J.
