Bisordi, Winifred E. November 26, 1918 - June 1, 2018

Winifred Bisordi(nee Martin), age 99 years, passed away on Friday, June 1, 2018 at her home in Mount Vernon, NY surrounded by her loved ones. Winifred was born on November 26, 1918 in Manhattan, the daughter of Peter and Winifred (Walsh) Martin. Raised in Woodlawn, she graduated from St Barnabas High School and entered Hunter College at the age of 15. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Edmund Bisordi, in 1992. She is survived by their four children; Joseph (Carol) Bisordi of Moorestown, New Jersey; Henry (Barbara) Bisordi of Pearl River, NY; Elizabeth (Charlene) Bisordi of Sarasota, FL; and Winifred (Vincent) Porpora of Mount Vernon. Known to all as “Granny”, she was the proud grandmother of six grandchildren – John (Karlie) Bisordi, Kathryn (Brian) Deal, Elena (John) Canetto, Christine Bisordi, Vincent (Diane) Porpora and Mary Porpora – and seven great grandchildren – Nicholas and Alyssa Bisordi, Tessa Canetto, Ella and Connor Deal, London Villega, and Avery Porpora. She was preceded in death by her three sisters – Mary (William) O’Hara, Patricia (Del) Rovis and Theresa (Richard) Fisher. Visitation will be at Fred McGrath Funeral Home in Bronxville, NY on Sunday, June 3rdfrom 3:00 to 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 4that 10:00 AM at Sts. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church in Mount Vernon with internment immediately following at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Jansen Hospice of Scarsdale, NY or The Bowery Mission, New York, NY.
