Jane Bentley Malley, 86, of Bronxville, New York, passed away on February 27, 2023.
Jane was born on November 12, 1936 in Jersey City to Margaret and Peter Bentley. Until her father’s untimely passing in the summer of 1940, she and her brother lived in Jersey City and Bay Head. Following her father’s passing, her mother married Bob Allan and the family moved to Hackensack and summered at Lake Hopatcong. Jane matriculated from High School and attended Beaver College in Pennsylvania.
Upon entering the work force Jane commuted from Hackensack to Manhattan working for her beloved Uncle Skip at Lehn & Fink. Around this time Jane met Hugh Malley. They met at the Parker House in Sea Girt, New Jersey where they would later live for many happy years. They had a whirlwind romance beginning on Memorial Day weekend ending with a wedding on November 25, 1961. This union brought about 51 wonderful years of life together along with the center of Jane’s world, her three children, Hugh, Margaret, and Elizabeth.
Jane is survived by her children and what became the new center of her universe, her grandchildren. Hugh, daughter in law Marybeth with Kyle, Cormac, Hannah and Zoe Malley, Peg and her son Aidan Malley, and Liz, son in law Matt with Maggie and Vaughn Young.
Jane was an enthusiastic cook from her time working in the recipe kitchen for Campbell Soup impressing family and friends with home-made bread, pizza, ice cream and countless other delights. Jane was an avid reader who also enjoyed working in her garden. She was a magician when it came to keeping orchids alive and blooming for many years.
Jane was a devout Catholic with two amazing trips to see the Pope, one a drive-by in Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia and a second amazing mass at Madison Square Garden.
