Bellinger, Susan Elizabeth Fine June 2, 1965 - October 22, 2026

Susan Elizabeth Fine Bellinger, 61, of Yonkers, New York, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2026, surrounded by the love of family.

Born on June 2, 1965, in Mount Vernon, New York, to parents Dr. James and Patricia Fine. Susan lived a life defined by kindness, loyalty, compassion, and an extraordinary capacity to love. She attended Tuckahoe High School and later Syracuse University, where she met the love of her life, Allan Bellinger. What began as a college romance grew into a remarkable partnership that spanned 43 years. They were married at The Reformed Church of Bronxville in 1992 and remained inseparable, not only as husband and wife but as best friends, confidants, and constant companions.

Susan spent much of her life in Bronxville, in a warm and welcoming home filled with family, friends, laughter, and beloved animals. Dogs were always an important part of her life, and her deep affection for retrievers, greyhounds, and poodles reflected her boundless compassion for all living creatures. She possessed a rare gift for appreciating the beauty of nature and treating every life, great or small, with gentleness and respect.

A truly poetic soul, Susan was known for her warmth, sincerity, and quiet grace. Her gentle spirit put people at ease from the moment they met her. She listened without judgment, spoke with honesty, and made those around her feel valued and understood. The friendships she built throughout her life were deep, lasting, and diverse, a testament to the genuine care she showed others.

Susan was an active member of the American Association of University Women (AAUW), the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), and the Bronxville Women’s Club. She took great pride in her family’s Italian and German Pennsylvania Dutch heritage. An accomplished clarinetist, she performed on a concert album while still in her early teens, showcasing a talent and dedication that remained part of her lifelong appreciation for music and the arts.

Her sharp intellect, strong analytical abilities, and deep understanding of insurance underwriting contributed significantly to the success of the family insurance businesses in Yonkers. Whether in business or in her personal life, Susan approached every endeavor with thoughtfulness, integrity, and unwavering dedication.

A gifted athlete and passionate competitor, Susan excelled in tennis. With her signature topspin forehand and determined spirit, she competed in regional and national USTA tournaments, including multiple appearances at national championships. Some of her happiest moments were spent on the courts with Allan or cheering alongside him at the U.S. Open in Flushing Meadows.

Susan embraced life’s joys with enthusiasm and gratitude. She loved exceptional food, live entertainment, and sharing memorable experiences with the people she loved most. Susan and Allan travelled the world with numerous domestic and international adventures in Canada and Europe.

Susan enjoyed evenings with her mother, Patricia, at events hosted by the Bronxville Women’s Club and cherished those moments long after her mother’s passing in 2012. Those who knew Susan will fondly remember her laughter, her thoughtful observations, her love of tradition, her kindness, and even her unwavering loyalty to roulette number 22.

Above all else, Susan’s greatest gift was the love she gave. She loved deeply, cared generously, and enriched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her presence brought comfort, her friendship brought joy, and her love leaves a lasting imprint on the hearts of her family and friends. Though she will be profoundly missed, her spirit will live on in the countless lives she touched and in the memories that will be treasured forever.

Susan is survived by her devoted husband, Allan Bellinger of Yonkers; her brother, James Fine, M.D., of Sunset Beach, North Carolina; her sister, Valerie Limekiller, R.N., of Eastchester, New York; her brother, Stephen Fine, M.Ed., of Miami, Florida; and her brother, Jeffrey Fine, M.D., of Mamaroneck, New York.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, at Fred H. McGrath & Sons Funeral Home, 20 Cedar Street, Bronxville, NY 10708. A funeral service celebrating Susan’s life will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 30, at The Reformed Church of Bronxville, 180 Pondfield Road, Bronxville, NY 10708.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Susan’s memory to the American Cancer Society and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), two organizations that reflect her compassion for both people and animals.
