Martyn, Anne M. December 7, 1929 - August 21, 2026

Anne Martyn passed away peacefully on August 21, 2026 at the age of 96. She was born on December 7, 1929 to Joseph and Sarah (Cunniffe) Brady in New York City. Anne attended St. Barnabas High School and earned both a bachelors and masters degree from Fordham University.

Anne met her husband Patrick through her brother Joe. Patrick visited to use the Brady family typewriter, but Patrick was so painfully slow pecking at the keys that Anne volunteered to help (and flashed her winning smile). Later, Anne’s mother offered Pat some jell-o and Anne’s father chastised her that surely they could offer something better to their future son-in-law. His intuition proved true.

Anne and Patrick married in 1952 and had four children: Kevin, Joanne, Eileen and Peter. They lived in the Bronx for many years with family nearby, several within walking distance. Each year, the family took photos at the New York Botanical Gardens on Easter and visited Highland Lakes during the summer.

In 1969 Anne, Patrick and family moved to Crestwood. She continued to work in the Bronx and specialized in special education. This afforded her the added benefit of finishing at 2 o’clock to be home for her four children. She was a teacher in the New York City school system for over 25 years.

Anne and Patrick enjoyed traveling the world just as much as visiting The Metropolitan Museum of Art or attending plays together during retirement. In 2017, Anne was honored as a Golden Ram (as an alumna for over 50 years) at her granddaughter’s Fordham University graduation and received enthusiastic cheers from the crowd.

Anne was preceded in death by her beloved husband of nearly 50 years Patrick in 2002, her parents, Joseph and Sarah Brady, her brothers Vincent and Joseph and her sister Irene McLaughlin.

She is survived by her children: Kevin Martyn (Catherine), Joanne Leddy (Joseph), Eileen Ceconi (Arthur), Peter Martyn (Laura). She also leaves behind thirteen beloved grandchildren: Gregory Martyn (Jennifer), Kevin Paul Martyn (Stephanie), Jean Leddy, Anne Leddy, Lisa Ceconi, Moira Ceconi (Andrew), Eileen Ceconi, Anne Ceconi, Christa Randazzo (James), Sean Martyn (Melina), Connor Martyn, Brian Martyn and Kyle Martyn, and two wonderful great-grandchildren Hermione and Arlo.

Anne’s happiest times were with family, friends and helping others. She hosted Christmas and many holidays in Crestwood. During family parties, Anne’s brother Joe would play his bagpipes and Anne and her sister Irene would happily dance for the family. She was active for many years as a Eucharistic Minister and with the Ladies of Charity at Annunciation-Our Lady of Fatima Parish. She enjoyed traveling, reading, bridge, sudoku, bingo and anything Irish!

Anne will be forever remembered and deeply missed.
