Margaret Philomena Lydon (née Keaveny), of Bronxville, New York—beloved daughter of Dromahair, County Leitrim, Ireland—passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026, surrounded by the deep love of her family.
Philomena lived a life rich in compassion, generosity, and spirited strength. She possessed a rare blend of warmth and resolve: a woman of great heart who loved fiercely and stood unwaveringly beside those she cherished. She was a tireless advocate for her family, unafraid to speak her mind, and guided always by a deep and abiding devotion to her faith and to the Blessed Mother. She delighted in life’s simple pleasures of laughter, good company, and celebration.
At the very center of Philomena’s world was her family. They were her greatest joy and her proudest legacy, a love that only grew deeper with each generation. Her devotion as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother was boundless, and the care she gave so freely will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
She was the devoted and loving wife of Michael, who predeceased her just six months earlier. Together, they shared a deep and enduring bond. She was a cherished and loving mother to Brendan (Maureen), Noreen (predeceased), Michael (Linda), Linda, and Susan. She was a proud and adoring grandmother to Kevin, Christopher (Rebecca), Makayla, Noreen, Molly, and Jaclyn, and a treasured great-grandmother to Nathaniel.
Philomena is also survived by her loving sister Bernadette, and was predeceased by her siblings Veronica (Packie), Patrick Hugh (Jo), Gabriel (Patrick), Brendan (Phyllis) and brother-in-law Packie. She will be fondly remembered as a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday from 4–8pm at Fred H. McGrath & Son Funeral Home, 20 Cedar Street, Bronxville, NY. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 9:45am at Saint Joseph’s Church, Bronxville, NY, followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.
