Dr. Ralph Joseph Lucariello, a long-time resident of Bronxville, died December 15, 2025, at the age of 99. He was married for 68 years to his loving, lovely wife, Argentina. He is survived by his four children: Ralph Jr., Joan, Richard, Tina (Stephen) Chrappa; six grandchildren: Richard, Lauren, Steven, Argentina, Ralph, Barbara/Gigi. Ralph was a graduate of Manhattan College (now Manhattan University). He went onto graduate from Georgetown University Medical School in 1951. He practiced medicine up until the pandemic when, given his engaged nature, and devotion to his patients, ventured into speaking with them online. He was recognized for his excellence as a physician by being designated a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP). Ralph had a full life of varied and rich experiences. He served as a Captain in the air force from 1954-1956. His medical career was at the now Montefiore Medical Center Wakefield Campus (originally Misericordia Hospital then Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center). He rose through the ranks there to become Senior Vice President for Medical Affairs and Senior Associate Dean for New York Medical College for many years. He served on the Board of Trustees of Cabrini of Westchester for over 20 years until his death and was Chair of the Board for 9 years. His distinguished service on the Board was recognized by receiving “Trustee of the Year Award,” in 2018 from LeadingAge New York. He also served on the Board of Trustees of Opengate, Westchester. His many achievements were honored by being inducted into Westchester County’s Senior Hall of Fame. He lived a life committed to others, rooted in Judeo-Christian values, as a caring family man, physician, and community leader. He was invited to be a Knight of Malta, by the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, which is an historic Catholic lay religious order, known for its humanitarian work. He was a beloved figure in his family, profession, and community. In his leisure time, he was an avid golfer, at the Leewood Golf Club, and bridge player, with his wife and many friends. Dear Members,
It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our longtime member, Dr. Ralph J. Lucariello, who passed away on December 15th.
Dr. Lucariello joined Leewood on May 1, 1965 and, at the time of his passing, was our longest tenured member, with an extraordinary 60 years and 7 months of membership. He turned 99 on September 2nd of this year, and we were all looking forward to celebrating his 100th birthday with him next year.
Dr. Lucariello was a true gentleman in every sense of the word. He remained sharp, gracious, and fully engaged until the day he left us. Over decades of practicing medicine, he improved the lives of countless patients, and those who knew him at the club, knew just how much they enjoyed his company and his conversation. Roseann often shares wonderful stories, including moments when Dr. Lucariello was called upon to perform emergency checkups right here at Leewood.
Even when he could no longer play golf, Dr. Lucariello never missed a meal at the club. He truly loved Leewood, and we loved having him as part of our community. His presence will be deeply missed.
