With a heavy heart and endless love we announce the passing of Bruce M. Meyers on December 10th, 2025. Born and raised in Marietta, Georgia, Bruce was the son of Joy and Francis Randolph Meyers. Bruce graduated from Kennesaw State University with BA in Education and completed a Masters degree in Education from the Teachers College at Columbia University.
Bruce’s teaching career spanned over 40 years, starting in Cobb County, GA before he moved North and taught eight years at Dalton School in New York City and thirty-two years at Bronxville Elementary School. He recognized a divine spark in every child and had a gift of turning the classroom into an exciting journey into the world of reading, writing and learning by igniting children’s imagination, curiosity and creativity. Bruce had a talent to connect with the young minds and hearts, and it paid back abundantly. There was rarely a day when he walked through Bronxville without being approached by a smiling face, a waving hand, and the words, “Hi Mr. Meyers!’.
Outside of the classroom, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life – sitting with one of the many books he was reading at the time, playing one of his twelve guitars, discovering his next joyride car, or biking while blissfully taking in the beauty of nature. Compassionate and humble, he was a loving friend to all who knew him. He was a family man, a beloved life partner and a soulmate to his wife, Helen whom he travelled the world with. Bruce left behind his children Elijah Timothy and Maxwell Alexander, his step daughter Sasha, his mother Joy, brother Timothy and niece Kelly, as well as numerous friends from Bronxville and Marietta
Memorial Calling Hours will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 between the hours of 4 to 6:30 pm, with Remembrance Service beginning at 5 pm
In Lieu of Flowers: Contributions may be made to Rosary Hill Home of Hawthorne or Eric Genius Concerts for Hope

December 18, 2025 at 8:28 amMr. Meyers was truly a remarkable role model for everyone. He was one of the few male elementary school teachers I had in Bronxville. His presence commanded the highest respect as his patience, kindness, and wide range of artistic interests made him stand out. He showed what a well-rounded adult could be, and I took that to heart. Now, working at Bronxville and aspiring to become a teacher, I try to replicate his compassion and grounded approach with children and colleagues. His example has a big part in shaping the educator I wish to be. Thank you for being such a positive example for me and so many others.

Bruce was well respected by his fellow teachers, parents, administrators and of course students. He had an innate gift of knowing what motivated his students and he would plan all kinds of engaging activities for his class. May his soul rest in peace.
