Geraldine Corcoran died peacefully on Tuesday March 15th at the age of 83 after a long battle with lung cancer, surrounded by her loving husband and children. Geri was beloved by all who knew her for her warm, outgoing disposition and devotion to her family and countless friends.
Daughter of Salvatore and Albina Longo, Geri was born on June 22, 1938 in Yonkers, NY. She graduated from Gorton High School and achieved her associate degree from Westchester Community College. In 1962, she married James Lee Corcoran and they settled down in Yonkers to raise their family. She resumed her career in the Intensive Care Unit at St. John’s Riverside Hospital in 1977 before returning home to raise their four children: Lee Jr., Elizabeth, Mark and Victoria. In 1980, Geri and Lee moved their family to New Rochelle where they spent the next 20 years before settling in Bronxville to retire. Geri’s happiest times were spent in the company of her family, particularly her five grandchildren: Tripp, Meaghan, Cameron, Justin and Logan. Lastly, no memory of Geri would be complete without mentioning her beloved English springer spaniel, Maggie, and cavapoo, Lucy.
Geri was known for her affectionate and lively personality, a loyal friend to all who knew her and devoted wife, mother and sister. Possessive of a boundless enthusiasm for life, Geri was an avid bowler, golfer, reader and lover of old movies and Broadway shows. She devoted much of her free time to helping others and volunteering her time to worthy causes, including The March of Dimes, Meals on Wheels, Yonkers Board of Elections and assistant school teacher for Yonkers.
Geri is preceded in death by her parents, Salvatore and Albina (Masoni), brother Robert, and beloved daughter Elizabeth. She is survived by her husband James Lee; sister Marjorie, brothers William (Kathie) and John; children James Lee Jr., Mark (Michele) and Victoria (William); grandchildren James Lee III, Meaghan, Cameron, Justin and Logan.
