Robert M. Bellone
April 30, 1959- August 23, 2021
Robert M. Bellone died on August 23, 2021 at 62 after a brief but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Bob was born in the Bronx and was a proud Fordham alumnus, having attended Fordham Prep, Fordham College, and Fordham Law School. As a lawyer, he spent most of his long career advocating for the rights of injured workers, having the privilege of sharing his professional life at various times with his brother, father, son and nephews. Bob had many passions outside of work. He enjoyed cooking, cars, father-son road trips, swimming, rock music, old movies and traveling. He was a prolific painter and his artwork adorns what had once been his parents’ home, which Bob and his wife Nancy had lovingly restored in recent years. Most of all, he loved sharing a good meal and a glass of red wine with his family and close friends. Bob had a unique ability to connect with people from all walks of life, and his warmth and good nature will be missed by all who loved him.
Bob sadly leaves behind his loving wife Nancy; his devoted son, Bobby Jr.; his brothers and sister, Thomas Bellone (Rosemarie), Larry Bellone (Sarah), and Susan Larrabee (Len); his mother-in law, Lucy Ospina, and sister-in-law, Liz (Greg); his six nieces and nephews Tommy, Michael, Becky, Andrew, Daniel and Tessa; a large extended family; and many close friends and colleagues. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Marie and Simon Bellone.
Visitation will be on Thursday, August 26, 2021 from 4PM to 8PM at Fred H. McGrath funeral home located at 20 Cedar Street, Bronxville, NY. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bronxville, New York on Friday, August 27, 2021 at 9:45AM. Interment will be at the Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale, New York.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bob’s name to the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research or to Swim Across America, a cancer fundraiser event Bob participated in over the years.
