Douglas Ralph Gordon, of Bronxville, passed away at home surrounded by his family on June 25, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Susan, loving father of Bradley, Blair (Demetri) Kotiadis, Paige, Clark, and Kathryn. Doug had a 41 year career as a Sales Engineer with Johnson Controls, never retiring. His cherished family was the center of his life and he will be sorely missed by them, as well as by his five siblings and many friends. Calling Hours at the Fred H. McGrath & Son Funeral Home, Bronxville are between the hours of 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm Tuesday, June 29. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph’s Church, Bronxville on Wednesday, June 30 at 10:45am.

One of the highlights of Doug’s dad Ralph was our trip to see Doug and his family at their home in New york in the Motor Coach. His Parents Ralph and Maxine were so proud of Doug and all of his accomplishments at work and for being a dedicated husband and incredible father.

June 29, 2021 at 1:04 amDoug is a cherished cousin. Doug’s unique sense of humor and perspective was always entertaining.. He proudly explained what his children were doing at each stage of their lives. Doug enjoyed his slice of life, starting in JCMO, at age four-ish, at Central Dairy, where Doug began his journey toward seeking what he desired: Surrounded by young cousins, Douglas left the Central Dairy booth, where his beloved maternal Grandmother (I wont mention her name, to protect the innocent), a perfect example of honor,, integrity,, honesty,, and virtue,, was tending to a gaggle of her grandchildren; when age four-ish Doug climbed onto a stool, then climbed up to the serving counter, stood up on top of the counter and proceeded clomp 8 feet on top of the counter, heading with focus and determination toward his goal; arriving at the glass pie/cake cover, he lifted the glass cover, set it down on the counter; then, Doug selected the exact piece of cake he cherished, then took a satisfied bite out of his newly acquired slice of chocolate cake. Doug’s siblings and cousin enjoyed the performance, while sitting in their booths,, eating ice cream.. His horrified grandmother, not wanting to be associated with the event, was only able to grab one younger grandson, Turkey Tom, (always a sloppy eater,, with ice cream all over his face) by his right arm to get Tom and herself away from inside the Dairy and to non- complicit safety outside on the sidewalk, where she might plausibly deny any familiarity with the hooligan cake muncher who remained standing on the counter until the last bite, eyeing a second piece of cake ( Grandmother could only save, extricate 1 grandchild from the active crime scene) Grandmother set a 20 foot speed record as she exited Central Dairy, with the Tom’s arm in her hand. Tom was a heavy eater as a child, he weighed like an anchor and was hard to lift, so grandmother stood outside on the sidewalk in front of Central Dairy, with young Tom’s ripped out arm in her caring hand. Inside Doug remained standing on top of the serving counter, like King Kong on top of the Empire State Building, was polishing off his second, probably third piece of cake. The remaining siblings and cousins finished their ice cream while watching Doug dive for his fourth piece of cake. Thank God, one cousin, the eldest at age 7, was a wise, steady, calm, handsome, athletic. genius, who guided the remaining cousins to safety outside the Dairy. When Interpol, federal agents, and JCMO’s keystone cops arrived, the eldest cousin at age 7, William the Wise, was able to convince the moron cops that Doug was starring in a commercial. The other siblings and cousins were never implicated; such other siblings and cousins still owe eldest cousin,, Sweet William, legal fees, plus interest compounded from 1956 to present, for saving them from a JCMO jail, as unindicted co- conspirators. A sane person might ask,” During the daring event, where were the mothers of these innocent children, why was a sole grandmother left to oversee all of the grandchildren? The three mothers were shopping

My sincerest condolences to your entire family during this extremely difficult time. Dougs legacy will never be forgotten and will live on for eternity.
