Speliotis, Marianne “Mimi” July 31, 1935 - March 7, 2021

Marianne Speliotis of Hartsdale, New York passed away on Sunday, March 7^th from a long illness at the age of 85. She was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in Yonkers where she was the captain and 1^st woman to be a member of the rifle team at Roosevelt High School. In her junior year, she won the Con Edison Scholar-Athlete Award of Westchester County. A prestigious award which was presented to the outstanding scholar-athlete of the week that normally went to a basketball or football player. She received this award for her outstanding marksmanship, in which she never dropped a point in competition and scored a perfect 100 each time. Underneath her graduation picture was her name followed by the caption “Annie Oakley”. She was also a member of the Cheer Leading Team, along with her very close and best friend Connie Petrovich. She played piano and enjoyed playing for the family and friends on holidays. Marianne, known affectionately by all as “Mimi”, was a member of the New York Athletic Club, where she participated in tennis competition and was an accomplished Trap shooter. Her father Danny Haloukas and her traveled to many Trapshooting clubs to participate in competition. In addition to Marianne’s many talents, she was an extremely accomplished and beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was devoted to her children, Bette-Ann Liguori and Chuck Stevens. She supported and encouraged her children’s education and their sports activities from swimming to tennis. Her daughter Bette-Ann is the head coach of Women’s tennis at Fordham University. She was instrumental in her success throughout her outstanding tennis career. She continued her support and dedication to her granddaughter, Dominique’s tennis accomplishments and career. She was a member of the Prophet Elias Greek Orthodox Church of Yonkers, and for many years was an active member of the Choir in which she sang many solos. Proceeded in death by her husband Steve, who was the love of her life, her mother Bette, and father Danny who devoted his life to her. She is survived by her daughter Bette-Ann (Peter), granddaughter Dominique Damian (Vlad), great-grandsons Vlad and Alex, son Chuck (Hilda) and grandsons Sander and Christian, brother George Haloukas (Lee), nephew Daniel Haloukas (Jen), great-nieces Ruby and Brianna and family friend, Julio Diaz. Wake will be at Fred H. McGrath & Son, Funeral Home, Bronxville, 4-8pm Wednesday, March 10, 2021 and 10 am Thursday at the Church. Mass at 11am, Thursday, March 11, 2021 at Prophet Elias Greek Orthodox Church, Yonkers.
