Cristopher Solomon Cravetz, age 39, died on February 5, 2020 in Falls Church, Virginia, of complications from the flu.
Cris was born June 22, 1980 in New York City to Joyce and Martin Cravetz. Cris had a wonderful childhood in Manhattan, spending summers at Camp Wigwam and traveling the world with his mom, dad and older sister Sarah. He was a graduate of The Browning School and Lafayette College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and made lifelong friends. After college, Cris returned to New York where he met the love of his life, Sheila, whom he married in 2010. Cris and Sheila moved to Virginia in late 2018, where he worked at Modus Create as a sales executive.
Cris will be remembered for his warmth, love of life and his laugh. He loved music, especially the Rolling Stones and Pearl Jam. He was a life-long fan of the Mets and the NY Giants and never hesitated to bet on the Mets with any of his brothers-in-law even though the odds were not in his favor. His family will miss his optimism, his bright smile and his kind eyes. Cris was a big kid at heart. If you couldn’t find him at a family party, you knew to look for him surrounded by his nieces and nephews who adored him. He was always up for a game or to give a ride on his back. Cris was never happier than when he was on the beach and he loved restaurants, cooking, spy novels, craft beer, cold brew coffee and good wine. Some of his most treasured memories were concerts, sporting events and travel with his good friends.
Cris’s greatest joys were his children, Henry and Catherine. He loved reading to them every night. He shared his love of Legos with Henry, spending countless hours building together. He loved making Catherine laugh. He was the best dad.
Cris is survived by Sheila, Henry and Catherine and his sister, Sarah Kleinhandler and her husband David. He will be greatly missed by them and by his nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, the in-laws, the Outlaws and his many friends. He was predeceased by his parents.
His funeral will be held on Thursday, February 13th at the Church of St. Joseph in Bronxville, New York at 9:45 a.m. Visiting hours with the family will be held on Wednesday, February 12th between 5 and 8 p.m. at the McGrath funeral home at 20 Cedar Street in Bronxville.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the education fund for Henry and Catherine: https://www.gofundme.com/f/henry-and-catherine-cravetz-education-fund

February 7, 2020 at 5:24 pmI have no words to express how sad I am. I can only imagine what you must be going through. Cris was an amazing friend and as every year that passed I loved him more. He had become a model of a man to follow. He had built a life one would be envious of and he wasn’t afraid to prove it with pictures. I will always remember him and speak out about how amazing he was. He will always still be here in our hearts and minds and all those amazing things he stood for will carry forward. I’m so sorry for your loss.

February 9, 2020 at 10:08 amWe are shocked and saddened to hear of Cris’s passing. It’s hard to believe that such a positive, enthusiastic person, who lived life fully and loved his family deeply, could be taken from the world this soon, too soon. We send our deepest sympathies to Sheila and the children, especially, in this time of loss and grief. May the road ahead at some point only get smoother, with the support of friends and family. February 10, 2020 at 12:28 amMy mother and I are devastated by the untimely passing of Cris. AKA. C-R-I-S-T-O-P-H-E-R
We watched Cris grow from teenager into manhood where he became a devoted husband to Sheila, adoring father to Henry and Catherine, and always a loving brother to Sarah.
He will be remembered and missed by his brothers and sisters in law and his nieces and nephews.

February 10, 2020 at 9:28 amMy Dearest Sheila,
Cris’s passing has left us shocked and saddened. I keep thinking of having some laughs with him a couple of weeks ago in Jersey. I appreciated how he’d stress to Henry the importance of talking with company over using his hand device. Words can only go so far in expressing the pain and sorrow felt for you and the kids in this saddest of times. RIP Cris, gone too soon. Uncle Tom

February 10, 2020 at 12:24 pmOffering our deepest sympathies to Cris wife, children, and family on behalf of all of Cris’ colleagues at Modus Create. Cris’ positive nature and quick wit endeared him quickly to colleagues around the globe, clients, and partners. He could always be heard around the office or on calls saying, “Absolutely!” always willing to find a way to make things happen and help where he could.
I am thankful for the time I was able to spend working with and getting to know Cris in our office in Reston, traveling to Europe for client and team meetings, and running up and down the east coast. I would always ask him, “how long have you been at Modus? feels like years :)” and many other colleagues have expressed the same sentiment. Cris’ friendly, authentic nature had a way of putting people at ease. He will be sorely missed.

February 10, 2020 at 1:17 pmNo words can express the deep sadness felt here by so many of us at Modus. Cris was so well liked and respected by all of his peers. His contagious laugh, the weird smelly lunches he brought to work and his positive energy will be so sorely missed. There is now an emptiness here that will be difficult to overcome. Our hearts go out to Sheila, Henry and Catherine. He was so proud of all of you.

February 13, 2020 at 12:08 pmI am a friend of your parents, Sheila. The news of your, Henry, Catherine, and the family’s loss is crushing. You have a number of friends who mourn and grieve the unspeakable absence in your lives. There are no words but there is much caring and there will be many, many prayers in your behalf. May comfort be yours from the Source of all comfort as well as in the knowledge that friends who care are remembering you each day in this unexpected journey. Those of us who did not have the privilege of knowing Cris up close care about you. Obviously by the comments in other condolence messages, Cris was a larger than life person. It is further loss to not have known the brightness of his personality. How blessed you are to have that which cannot be taken from you, Cris’s worthy legacy. God be with you, dear Sheila and Henry and Catherine.

February 13, 2020 at 8:00 pmI was stunned to read the news! It is hard to wrap my head around it. I can’t imagine how you must feel Sheila, let alone Henry and Catherine, especially since we had parallel trajectories in the past few years. Lena really understands how hard this must be for Henry and sends her love and support. We all think about you and will remember Cris fondly.

February 14, 2020 at 2:24 pmCris was an amazing colleague and a better friend! I’ll miss his boisterous laugh that could fill up the room with love and joy. I am heartbroken I won’t hear from him anymore, but will cherish the memories we have had together. Playing ping-pong in the office, going to the hotel gym together, collaborating on ideas, going for lunchtime walks or beers after work. He was an amazing man and he is leaving the world a better place. Love you Cris!
