Delfina A. Ruiz , of Yonkers, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2020. She was 91 years old. She was affectionately known as “Mima” to her family and all those who had the pleasure to know and love her.
Delfina was born in November 1928 in Madruga, Cuba where she met and married Heberto in 1948 and raised their three children. In 1962 the family immigrated to the United States as refugees and later became proud American Citizens.
Delfina was pre-deceased by her husband Heberto in 2014 after 65 years of marriage, and by her youngest son Mario in 2008. She is survived by her children Beni and Herb and their spouses, her 9 grandchildren and their families including 9 great-grandchildren.
Delfina was a devoted and beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She extended her loving ways as caretaker to countless children. She was also an exemplary daughter and sister who cared deeply for the well being of her own siblings and parents back in Cuba and found ways to help them at difficult times in their lives.
Mima’s family is requesting that, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Delfina Ruiz to Calvaryhospital.org/ways-to-give.
