Melosci, John J. July 27, 2026

Memorial Visitation: 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Friday May 4, 2018

With enormous sadness, we inform you of the death on April 27, 2018 of John J. Melosci of Yonkers, NY. Retired for over a decade, John was a small business owner who loved being a tire man. His steadfast work led not only to a thriving business in Wyandanch, NY, but also to two 1979 “Golden Hammer” awards for his world champion speed and skill in changing giant tires. Among his greatest joys was his good fortune at sharing the past 40 years with Rosemarie Dantone Melosci. Born in Brooklyn in 1944 to Anthony Melosci and Lucia Castiglie Melosci, John was raised in Carle Place, graduating from Carle Place High School. Predeceased by son Tommy, John is survived by son John Jr. and daughter Jacqueline, daughter-in-law Deirdre, son-in-law John, grandchildren Cassandra, James, Jayson and Jessica, and brother Anthony. He is also much loved by Rosemarie’s sons Anthony and Dean.John was committed to beautifying his neighborhood of the past 20 years, spearheading landscaping for two terms at their Winchester community. At the time of his death, John was up for election to lead landscaping for another term. John’s friends and family will forever admire John’s strength, stamina and positivity through good times and bad. His spirit lives in Abraham Lincoln’s words:  We can complain because rose bushes have thorns, or rejoice because thorn bushes have roses. Join family and friends to remember and celebrate John at McGrath & Son Funeral home in Bronxville on Friday, May 4 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. An informal reception will also take place from 4:30-6:30pm on Friday, May 4th at Winchester. In lieu of flowers, donations to a kidney or diabetes organization are appreciated, or the family asks that you support another organization of your choice.
