Spencer, Joseph F. July 27, 2026

Joseph F. Spencer, (Joe) of Bronxville and recently of St. Patrick’s Home in the Bronx, died on July 23, 2011.  He was 88.

Joe was born in the Bronx on January 5, 1923 to John and Mae Spencer.  He is the brother of “Jack” Spencer, Ann Langstine, and Joan Heany; all predeceased. He graduated from Mt. St. Michael in the Bronx, St. Benedict’s College, Atchison, Kansas and received his law degree from Brooklyn Law School.  Joe retired from his law practice in Bronxville.  Joe was a member of the Yonkers Charter Revision Commission, an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association, the vice-president of the Yonkers Board of Education and the City Leader of the Yonkers Conservative Party.  He was also the author of The Uninsured Motorist Endorsement, Substance and Procedure.

He is survived by his wife, Eileen(Cummins), his children, Christine Ironside, Michele Rubeo, Mark Spencer, and Tracey Walsh.  Joe leaves eight grandchildren; David Bauer, Heather Ironside, Zachary Rubeo, Allesandra Rubeo, Delaney Spencer, Cormac Walsh, and Tierney Spencer and Hailey Spencer.  Joe has two great-grandchildren, Abby Bauer and Max Bauer. 

Viewing will be held at McGrath’s Funeral Home, Bronxville, NY on July 25. Hours are 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church, Bronxville, NY on July 26 at 10AM. Burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
