Luisanna Scalera, of Eastchester, NY, passed away on June 21, 2023 from breast cancer.
Born February 3, 1963 in Veroli, Italy, she moved to the United States that same year and grew up in Tuckahoe, NY. Luisanna is survived by her husband, Frank Scalera, her children, Christopher Garitee, Juliana (Mario) D’Ambrosio, and Dominick Scalera, as well as her step-daughter Julia Scalera. She is also survived by her mother, Rosa Palma, and her siblings Antonella Cioffoleti, Walter (Lynn) Palma, and Florence Palma. She was predeceased by her father Giacomo Palma and her brother-in-law John Cioffoleti.
Luisanna owned and operated Ernie’s Wine Bar + EATS where she won the hearts of Bronxville. She expressed her love through cooking and made certain that everyone left with a full stomach and a fuller heart. Luisanna also managed her husband’s dental practice, in Eastchester, helping him build a successful business over three decades. Luisanna knew the names, faces, voices, and life stories of every patient the office had and of every wine bar customer.
The biggest points of pride in Luisanna’s life were her children. Her oldest son, Christopher, attended law school in California and practices law in White Plains, NY. Her daughter, Juliana, is a special education teacher in the Bronx, NY and recently married an NYPD police officer. Her step-daughter, Julia, works promoting environmental conservation and clean water initiatives in Massachusetts. Her youngest son, Dominick, attends college at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT, where he studies computer science and writes music.
Luisanna was a devout Catholic and parishioner of the Immaculate Conception Church in Tuckahoe, NY. She was surrounded by family and loved ones until the very end. Everyone who knew her loved her and was enriched by her friendship. She will be missed dearly.
