Patricia Mary Norton
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Patricia Mary Norton, born on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 1948 and passed away on March 8, 2025 surrounded by loving family and lifelong friends.
Pat was the daughter of the late F. Patricia (Cunningham) and Richard C. Norton, Sr.
Pat was the second of six siblings, the late Richard C. Norton Jr. (Linda), John (Rosa), Peggy Sullivan (Christopher), Kathleen Wik (the late William) and Mary Martin (Kevin).
Born in The Bronx, Pat was a proud graduate of St. Frances of Rome School and St. Barnabas High School.
Pat began her career at New York Telephone Company and pursued her undergraduate degree at Iona College. She then went on to earn her M.B.A. at Iona College and her M.S. in Education at Fordham University.
At every stage of her life, from grammar school through retirement, Pat formed lifelong friendships. Pat travelled throughout the US and Europe, enjoyed winters skiing in Hunter Mountain and summers in The Hamptons. Some of her favorite vacations were her Thanksgiving trips spent with her cousin Gail and family experiencing the Southwest. Each year on her birthday, March 17th, you could find Pat on the corner of 70th Street and 5th Avenue with her family and friends at the New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade celebrating the day!
Pat had a very strong devotion to her extended family, especially her 12 nieces and nephews, Steven, Tricia (Brent), Christopher (Julie), John (Amanda), Kristine, Katie (Marissa), Jerry (Annie), Mary Patricia, Danny, Genevieve, Pearse and Delia. Pat was also a Great Aunt to Nola, Liam, Ryan, Henry, Rowan, Neil and Jack.
She also treasured her relationships with her many cousins both near and far and was responsible for organizing many memorable and well-attended Cunningham/Walker Family Reunions in North Carolina.
Her pride and joy were her three Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Reggie, Oliver and Monty.
Pat faced many health challenges over the past 20 years and was sustained by her faith, family and friends.
We encourage all funeral attendees on Friday to wear something green in honor of Pat’s favorite day of the year, St. Patrick’s Day.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Tunnel to Towers or The Presentation of Sisters of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Until we meet again, may God hold her in the palm of His hand.

March 10, 2025 at 8:01 pmI am saddened by the loss of my oldest and dearest friend. There are so many childhood memories I have with all the Norton’s, but the hours she and I spent on the porch playing with cutouts is ever part of my happiest memories. I am so glad we were able to maintain our close friendship even after I moved to California as a teen and as we grew up, we somehow were able to continue our bond. My condolences go out to all who knew and loved Pat. She will be missed.

March 11, 2025 at 9:25 pmSo. very sad to hear of Pat’s passing. Pat was one of the kindest souls with a heart of gold. Even in grade school she would always share her candy at recess with everyone. We went to SFR together and through the years caught up many times even though sometimes there were years between the times we saw each other. Five of us from SFR would meet for lunch when I came to town. She loved her family and always had stories of times spent together with them. May the memories you shared ease your pain and provide comfort and strength. Love and hugs,

March 13, 2025 at 2:20 pmMy heartfelt condolences to Pat’s family & all who cherished her. We met at the Telephone Co. way back in 1970. She was a wonderful person & every time we got together for lunch with other business office “survivors”, Pat would always remind me that she still had the handwritten Astrological Profile I did for her all those years ago. Rest in peace, my dear Pisces friend.
