Peter W. Delaney of White Plains, NY passed away on October 23, 2008.  Delaney had a long distinguished career for more than 20 years in Public Service for Westchester County and New York State and, more recently in private business consulting. Born on October 26, 1951 in the Bronx, New York to Thomas and Veronica Delaney, he was educated in Catholic Schools graduating from Power Memorial High School and Iona College. An avid golfer, connoisseur of fine wine, food and cigars, Delaney was active in Westchester and New York State Republican Party activities.  He ran for the Mount Vernon District Assembly seat in 1972, served as the Campaign Manager for his father’s 3 elections as Westchester County Sheriff and Andy O’Rourke’s Westchester County Executive Office in 1989 and 1993.  Delaney also held several positions in government including Commissioner of General Services for Westchester County and New York State, Executive VP and CFO of the New York Power Authority as well as being a longtime advisor and friend to former NYS Governor George Pataki.
Delaney was predeceased by his wife of 22 years, Mary Lindstrom, and his father, Thomas Delaney, Sr., former Westchester County Sheriff.  He is survived by his mother, Veronica (Harvey), and his four siblings: Tom Delaney of Crestwood, Veronica Kearney of Bronxville, John Delaney of Amawalk, Mary O’Reilly of Mount Vernon and many nieces and nephews. The Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10am on Saturday, October 25, 2008 at Saint Joseph’s RC Church in Bronxville, NY.
