Zimbardi, Rose July 17, 1919 - November 20, 2020

Rose (Frasca) Zimbardi, adored wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother & true friend, passed peacefully into her Lord’s arms November 20, 2020.

Rose was born in Mt. Vernon, New York on July 17, 1919 to her beloved parents, Carmela (Sarno) & Carmelo Frasca, into a large, loving family of brothers & sisters who are all now reunited with her: Frances, Danny, Jack, Pat, Frank, Olga & Norma.

She married the love of her life, John, at Mt. Carmel Church in Mt. Vernon on August 31, 1940. John predeceased her by many years, but their love story lives on in their daughters Janice, Florence Ann & Danielle, grandchildren Leah Ann, Toni Ann, Michael, Jennifer & Susan, and great grandchildren Daniel, Jonathan, Richard, Danielle, Justin, Madison, Tyler, Edward and Evelyn.

Rose also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews, and much-loved extended family and friends.

Rose raised her family in Mt. Vernon where she lived for 99 years.  She was an active member of her parish, St. Ursula’s Church, and always devoted to her faith.  She spent the last years of her life in Connecticut.

Beautiful inside and out, Rose leaves us better people for having known her truly unconditional love and friendship.  She taught us to be grateful for every day.  Momma, you will always be our hero.

The family will be holding limited private services due to the pandemic, as Rose would want us all to be safe.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in Rose’s memory to “The Sunday Mass” at thesundaymass.org or to your favorite charity.

    Dear Florence and Family
While I and my family never got to meet Rose personally, Florence’s stories over the years I worked in Pelham and Charleston were always of a resilient woman. I feel I was fortunate to not only hear the stories but see the photos throughout the home in Hamlin. My, our hearts go out to all of her family and friends for such an ill-timely loss!!!

Aunt Rose was special to me even though I lived a long commuting distance from her through my adolescence and then far away in California. She was a memorable part of my childhood visits to Mount Vernon; she and Uncle Johnny gave me a roaring welcome when, at 21, I stumbled into town in the middle of the night after an arduous cross-country drive; and she treated me so lovingly on all my other visits, even my last one in 2018, with lots of goodies and that heartwarming smile in her trademark rose-colored kitchen. On my next trip back, I am determined to pause at least a while on Claremont Avenue, gaze up at the front porch that held those unforgettable family gatherings, and invite Aunt Rose’s spirit to again envelop me. May she indeed rest in God’s peace, and may all of us who treasure our time with her find consolation.
