Marian Therese Cahill Westerlund, 68, of Palm Harbor, FL, passed away on August 24, 2021. Originally from Yonkers, NY, she practiced nursing for over 30 years. Her career included working at Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville, NY, and at multiple hospitals in California and Sarasota County, FL.
Following her nursing career, Marian dutifully served as a home health care worker for her parents for almost 8 years. Her contributions to our entire family were immense, providing such loving care in their time of greatest need. Marian always maintained a wonderful home for her parents and made it so welcoming for large family visits.
Since retiring, Marian dedicated her life to her family, children and grandchildren. Affectionately named, “Grammy”, she was beloved by so many. She was of pure heart and soul, and a true light to all she touched.
She is survived by her son Jayson, daughter Kelly Pena and her husband Ivan, and granddaughters Madison and Abigail. Marian was a beloved sister and loving aunt of 22 nieces and nephews. She is also survived by sisters, June C. Kellert, Jeanne C. Manganaro, Joan P. Louney Wakeman, Bernadette M. Flynn, and brothers, Lawrence R. Cahill, Fulton J. Cahill, Joseph V. Cahill. Predeceased by parents Marian T. and Vincent J. Cahill, sisters Suzanne Cahill, Mary G. Flynn, and brother Vincent J. Cahill.
Visiting hours will be held at the Fred H. McGrath & Son Funeral Home, Bronxville, NY on Friday, September 3, 2021, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Annunciation Church, Crestwood, NY on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at 10:00 a.m., followed by burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to her favorite charity, St. Jude’s Hospital for Children.
