MARY ANN WALSH

Mary Ann Walsh (nee Nolan), a former resident of Bronxville, NY, died peacefully at the Hebrew Home for the Aged in Riverdale, NY on November 3, 2019. Mary was 95 years of age. The daughter of Laurence Nolan, Shankill, Kilkenny, Ireland and Nora Enright Nolan, Maharees, Castlegregory, Kerry, Ireland, Mary was born in New York City on June 25, 1924. Mary was also the dearest older sister of John Nolan, Ann Darcy, Lawrence Nolan and Eileen Carter, who are all deceased, In her youth, Mary was a championship Irish step dancer and a proud graduate of the Holy Cross Academy in New York City. An Executive Secretary, Mary worked for the Women’s Exchange for Work, the Church Press and the Norden Company. On June 28, 1947, she married Robert Martin Walsh at St. Nicholas of Tolentine Church in the Bronx. Her beloved “Buddy” died in 1986. Mary was the devoted mother of Marianne (Frank) Pellegrino of New Jersey, Stephen Walsh of California, and Kieran Walsh and his fiancée, Gabrielle Saraceni Valentine, of CT. Mary’s son, Robert Gerard Walsh of New York City, died on April 30th of this year. Cherished grandmother of Elizabeth (Kevin) Smith, Ryan (Lauren) Hobler, Kieran Hobler, Caitlin Walsh and Meghan Walsh, she was also the adored great- grandmother of Connor, Luke, Kyle, Rory, Jacob and Orla Before her illness, Mary was a daily communicant at The Church of St. Joseph in Bronxville for over 25 years. Prior to the Mass of the Christian Burial, there will be a short visitation on Thursday, November 7th from 9:45 am to 10:30 am at the Fred H. McGrath Funeral Home, 20 Cedar Street, Bronxville, NY. The Mass of the Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, November 7th at 10:45 am, in the Church of St. Joseph, 15 Cedar Street, Bronxville, NY. Internment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Mount Pleasant, NY. In lieu of flowers and in gratitude for the care she received for over 9 years, the family requests that donations be made in Mary’s memory to the Hebrew Home for the Aged at Riverdale, attn: Patricia Weiss, 5901 Palisade Avenue, Bronx, NY or online https://ww.riverspringhealth.org/donation-form/. The family also thanks Calvary Home Hospice for their end of life caring for our mother.

    My thoughts and prayers are with the family. They are all together now. I have many fond and fun memories of time with Mary, Buddy and Junior. I was also sorry to hear about Bobby. Prayers to you all
