Grace C. Vesper of Scarsdale, died peacefully surrounded by family on January 1, 2014 at the age of 101. Born in Tuckahoe on November 2, 1912 to the late Vincent and Carmela Calandro. Beloved wife of the late R. William Vesper. Sister of the late Edith Canino and Anthony Calandro, dear aunt to Frank Canino, James Calandro, Peter Criscuolo, Carol Gristina, Susan Canino and Joanne Mrstik. Grace was the first female insurance agent for The Hartford Insurance Company. She owned and operated Lewis Insurance Agency for many years, when it was rare for a woman to own her own business. She even earned the contract for the NYS Thruway when it was being constructed. She will always be remembered as “Amazing Grace”. Calling hours at the Fred H. McGrath & Son Funeral Home, Bronxville, between the hours of 3 to 7pm on Monday. Mass of Christian Burial, Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Scarsdale, on Tuesday January 7 at 10am.
