Tognino, John N September 20, 1938 - December 19, 2021

John N. Tognino of Bronxville and formerly of Ardsley on December 19, 2021. He was the widower of Norma L. Tognino. Loving father of Katherine (Mark) Albanese, John Jr. (Teri), and Michael (Jennifer). Grandfather of Christopher, John III, Michael Jr., Joseph and Isabella. John was the former Chairman of the Board of his alma mater, Fordham University. He was also the former Senior Vice Chairman of the Board of St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx and former Chairman of the Board of the Union Community Health Center in the Bronx. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Muscular Dystrophy Association. John had a career in the financial services industry spanning over 50 years. He was formerly EVP and Head of Global Sales and Member Relations for the NASDAQ Stock Market, President and CEO of the Securities Traders Association and EVP of Capital Markets and Trading at Charles Schwab & Co. Inc.  He spent over 35 years of his career with Merrill Lynch and was the former Managing Director of Global Equities.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Fordham University Church on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 10 am. Out of an abundance of caution, the Mass is limited to family members but will be live streamed by Fordham University.  Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Tognino Family Endowed Scholarship, Fordham University or Weill Cornell Medical College, Office of External Affairs, 1300 York Avenue, Box 314, New York, NY 10065, to benefit the Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Institute in the Department of Neurology.

Mass: A Private Family mass will be held at Fordham University Church on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 10 am.

    It is very difficult to imagine my world without John. He was the most generous and most thoughtful and smart of persons. He was a giant in the financial and philanthropy worlds and a true true gentleman.

    I miss him and his wise counsel very much.
