John Patrick Tierney, 85, of Bronxville, New York, passed away on February 10, 2023. John was born on April 7, 1937 to Irish immigrant parents, John and Margaret Tierney in the Bronx, New York. After graduating Monroe High School, he served in the Navy. After being discharged, he returned to the Bronx and married Nellie DeThomas, a marriage that would last 58 years. He held various jobs on Wall Street in the banking industry and as a fund manager for various industrial unions. John retired in his early 80’s.
John is survived by his loving wife Nellie and his son, John, daughter in law, Rosaria, daughter Laura, and son, Dennis and daughter in law, Tara. He was Papa to his grandchildren Loren, Julianne, Camryn and Landon. He also leaves behind his sister in law, Gramelia DeThomas and Nonna Amelia.
John was a devout Catholic, a master storyteller and avid reader. He loved his country. He loved his sports teams, and most of all he loved his family. He will be missed immensely but his legend will live forever.

John was a great man who helped a lot of people. He constantly made us laugh at work and had
wonderful stories to share.
