Maureen Ann Sullivan of Ossining, formerly of Crestwood, daughter of George and Florence Fleming, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2020, with her children at her side. Maureen, always a Bronx girl at heart, was a graduate of The College of New Rochelle, having an early teaching career until retiring to raise her family, which she did with tenacious excellence. Maureen was married for 58 years to the love of her life, Cornelius J. Sullivan who predeceased her in 2014.
Maureen and Corny–after raising their six children–enjoyed retirement years together with their family, spending time at their vacation home in Ocean City, Maryland, going on yearly family cruises, and simply being at home in Westchester with everyone all together. Maureen went on to live her later years enjoying her family, always wanting to know and be a part of every moment of their lives. Maureen was 86 years of age.
Maureen is survived by her daughters Gayle, Lori, Kerry, and Colleen and her sons, John and Scott. She is also survived by her sons and daughters in law, James Twomey, Peter Francese, Mark Pohar, Michael Caruana, Sharon Sullivan, and Anissa Sullivan, twelve grandchildren, Meaghan, Michael, and Maureen Twomey, Kristyn Francese, Shannon and Sean Pohar, Sara (Randy) Weaver, Jack, Sean, Patrick, and Mary Sullivan, and Emily Sullivan, as well as a great granddaughter, Avery Weaver.
Visitation will be on Thursday, October 1, 2020, from 3 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at McGrath & Son, 20 Cedar Street, Bronxville, New York. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:30 p.m. on October 2, 2020 at Annunciation Church, 470 Westchester Avenue, Crestwood, New York where Maureen raised her family.

September 29, 2020 at 3:44 pmOur heartfelt condolences on the passing of your beloved Mom. She was the truest of lifelong friends to my mother and was most surely an “Aunt” to all of us kids as family ever could be. May her spirit continue to live in each one of you and may she be welcomed into the open arms of those who love her and who have been waiting for this reunion on the other side. Much love to all.

October 1, 2020 at 12:19 pmI absolutely adored Mrs. Sullivan. The quintessential modern woman of her generation. She was intelligent, elegant and classy and had quite the flair for fashion as evidenced in every outfit. She carried herself with grace and dignity. Always on top of current events, eager to discuss the latest novel or movie, always ready for a good discussion around the kitchen table.
She raised six amazing children who are such kind, caring, decent people. She cared selflessly for her aunt and uncle setting a wonderful example for her children and teaching them how important family is.
I loved her accent. I can hear the Sullivans chuckling now because I’m Lori’s Boston friend (talk about accents). I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. You will be missed, Mrs. Sullivan.
Love,
Leanne
