Patricia Kutner Strait
On January 7, 2016, Patricia Kutner Strait passed away peacefully from complications of various autoimmune diseases. Patti is survived by her husband of 31 years, Andrew W. Strait, her parents Milan E. and Barbara J. Kutner, her sister Amy Kutner Herlehy and by her niece and nephew Grace E. Herlehy and Connor P. Herlehy. Patti was born in Cleveland, Ohio on January 17, 1960, was raised in Fairport, NY and graduated from Fairport High School in 1978. In 1982 she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. Her early career was in magazine journalism and public relations, including positions at the Harley School in Rochester, NY, Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, MI and French & Rogers in Troy, MI. Patti and her husband later spent four years in Tokyo, where she wrote for and volunteered with The College Women’s Association of Japan. In 1999, Patti graduated with a Masters degree from Wayne State University’s School of Library and Information Science. She subsequently worked for the Farmington Community Library in Farmington Hills, MI and later served as Director of Public Relations at Northwestern University Library in Evanston, IL. Patti will be remembered for her love of books, family vacations, Paris and Canandaigua Lake. A gathering to commemorate Patti’s life will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, January 14th at Bristol Harbour Resort, 5410 Seneca Point Rd., Canandaigua, NY 14424.
