Marion Jean Dowling Spillane

Marion Dowling Spillane, of the Bronx passed away on August 5, 2018.  Wife of her beloved Joe, who predeceased her on June 24, 2012. Mother of Susan (Denis) O’Hanlon, Joseph (Patricia), Robert (Carol), Kevin (Mary Jane), Marianne (Peter) Stuebe and Michael (Joan). Grandmother of 25 and great grandmother of 27. She was born on July 12, 1924, the youngest of 10 children of Matthew B. and Mary Ann (Regan) Dowling. At St. John Chrysostrom’s Roman Catholic Grammar School in the Bronx she was awarded General Excellence for being the top student in her class. In addition to raising her family she worked at the Metropolitan Life Association and for many years at JC Penney.   She also was the mistress of grand estates in Rockaway Beach, Queens.  We will forever have fond memories of her singing on the porch and calling for us all to join in. She was always there when we needed her, and she will never be forgotten. No “Second Hand Rose” was she! Calling Hours at the Fred H. McGrath & Son Funeral Home, Bronxville between the hours of 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 PM Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial St.Joseph’s Church, Bronxville on Friday August 10 at 9:45AM.
