Shea, Frances A. March 14, 1938 - September 17, 2023

Frances A. Shea, née Howard, beloved wife of James and devoted mother of Michael (Mary), Patricia Sheridan (Michael) and Carol Altenbach (Peter) died on September 17, 2023 at the age of 85. She is survived by her eight grandchildren Jeanine Shea, Kelly Shea, Allison Shemtob, Colleen Sheridan, Bridget Sheridan, Aidan Sheridan, Peter Altenbach and Erin Altenbach. Her late brother Joseph Howard and sister-in-law Anne Howard predeceased her and she is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Fran and Jim were married on September 2, 1961 and recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. Their long and happy union is a true testament to their faith and love for one another, and set a wonderful example for their entire family.

Fran attended Sacred Heart grammar school in the Highbridge section of the Bronx and went to St. Simon Stock High School. She graduated from St. John’s University School of Business and was employed as an accountant for many years with the law firm of James P. Shea, Esq.

Fran was a member of Annunciation parish in Crestwood for over 50 years and was a dedicated parishioner who participated in many parish activities over the years. She was also a member of the Ladies of Charity and crocheted countless layette sets for children in the New York Foundling home and other charities over the years.

Fran was a very kind person who always strived to help others. She will be greatly missed.
