Reverend Frederick J. Sullivan, of Riverdale, NY passed on January 31st, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Yonkers. He was 83 years old.
Born on March 10, 1927 in Bronxville, NY, he was the son of the late Walter E Sullivan Sr. and Regina M Sullivan (Morris). A graduate of Fordham Prep. He studied for the Holy Priesthood at Cathedral College and Saint Joseph’s Seminary in Yonkers. He was ordained in May of 1953 at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral. He taught at Cardinal Hayes High School and was a business administrator at various diocesan high schools including Kennedy Catholic in Somers, Cardinal Spellmen in the Bronx and Archbishop Stepinac in White Plains. He was also Pastor at St. James the Apostle parish in Carmel NY and at Our Lady of Loretto Parish at Cold Spring when he retired. He was the brother of Walter E. Jr., Thomas E., Josephine Lyons and the late Marguerite Foley and survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Calling hours at the Fred H McGrath and Son funeral home, Bronxville, between the hours of 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Friday, Feb. 4th. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at The Immaculate Conception Church in Tuckahoe, NY, on Saturday February 5th at 12 Noon. Interment will be at Holy Mount Cemetery in Eastchester.
