Ranieri, Elinor Anita December 29, 1927 - July 16, 2021

Elinor Anita Ranieri passed peacefully on Friday, July 16, 2021 at age 93. She was born in Brooklyn on December 28, 1927 to parents Joseph Peter Maffi & Josephine DeJoseph. Her siblings Carl, Gloria, Anna & Theresa pre-deceased her.
Elinor graduated James Madison High School, Brooklyn, in 1946.
She married Dominic Carl Ranieri on August 3, 1947 at Church of Good Shepherd, Brooklyn.
They were married 41 years until his death in 1988.  Soon afterwards, Elinor was blessed with the companionship of Michael Salerno for over 30 years.  Michael just passed in March, 2021
Elinor is survived by her 5 children: daughter Carol (Paul) Guthrie, sons Ralph (Margene) Ranieri, Peter ( Susan) Ranieri, Paul ( Patricia) Ranieri, and Robert (Rachel) Ranieri.  She also has 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Elinor resided in Yonkers, NY for over 60 years. She & her family were
parishioners of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, where she was a President
of their Ladies Guild running parish fundraisers.  Elinor enjoyed working at Estate & Tag Sales and she worked at the Pennypincher in Tuckahoe, NY for 15 years after her husband died.
Elinor was the utmost homemaker a saver, & an early environmentalist, never wasting food or paper. She would deprive herself of things for her children’s sake and wrote cards and gifts for everyone’s birthdays and anniversaries.
Her family knew she would make lasagna & cheesecake for their birthdays!
She always asked how her grandchildren & great-grandchildren were, and attended all their graduations, performances, awards, etc.  She looked forward to all the family parties & celebrations.
Elinor enjoyed traveling to Atlantic City, NJ, cruises, and trips to Italy being very proud of her Italian heritage. Her hobby was cutting coupons & finding bargains at the grocery store. She has left us with a true sense of a close, loving and supportive family, who respect their differences, and will do anything for one another.
Just like each of us, Elinor was not perfect so she received Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour many years ago and would often enjoy reading the Daily Bread devotional.  May her memory and influence be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.

    To the Ranieri Family

What a life your Mom had!! I have such great memories of Gina’s Aunt Ellie! She always had such a warm and welcoming smile and twinkle in her eye. And she was the solid matriarch of a wonderful family. Her deep authenticity was always apparent in her interactions with people.
I hope that everyone can celebrate the great, full and long life that she led! My deepest condolences on your loss.
