Seraphine “Sera” Pugliese a 66 year resident of Yonkers passed away on May 9, 2022 at the age of 98. Beloved wife of the late Carl and loving mother of Paul and Carl, Jr. (Catherine), devoted grandmother of Peter (Michael) and Steven (Kaitlin), dear sister of the late Catherine Pampinella, loving cousin and aunt to many. Sera was born in Manhattan to the late Luca and Bartolomea (nee Alaimo) Tantillo on April 22, 1924.

Sera was kind, outgoing and enjoyed socializing with family and friends. Very active throughout her life; she enjoyed yoga, swimming and tennis. She was a tireless volunteer and nine-year caretaker for her elderly Godmother, Mary Budd, through most of the ’80’s. Blessed with an indomitable spirit and a deep devotion to Jesus, His Blessed Mother and her Faith. She volunteered her time as a Religious Education teacher at St. Eugene’s Parish for many years. She always looked forward to enjoying Helene’s delicious home-cooked meals and prayed tirelessly for her son, Zachary’s, healing. In her later years, Sera thoroughly enjoyed the company of her deeply devoted friend, Caroline Abirou, who she loved like a daughter.

All are welcome to celebrate the Gift and Blessing of Sera’s ninety-eight years between the hours of 4 to 8pm Wednesday at Fred H. McGrath & Son Funeral Home, Bronxville. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Eugene’s Church on Thursday May 12 at 11am. Interment to follow at St. Raymond’s Cemetery, Bronx.

My dear Aunt Sera, I hope the minute you closed your eyes you were embraced by your loving family. Uncle Carl, your parents and my mom. I’m sure you were so happy to see them. I hope you rest in perfect peace and enjoy your sweet reward. You earned it. Please give my mom a hug from me. I love you Aunt Sera.

    Dearest Mom…
I can never thank you and Dad enough for being such wonderful parents – for all your love, hard work, countless sacrifices — and for the values you instilled in me. Words cannot adequately express how much I appreciate all you did through the years. I can’t imagine where I’d be without your love and support. We take comfort knowing your Spirit, like Dad’s, lives on.
Rest in Peace with Dad, all the family and the Angels.
