Piket, Margrit January 15, 1940 - October 5, 2021

It is with a heavy heart that we are sharing the passing of our mother Margrit Piket on October 5, 2021.
She lived a long and fruitful life. Our mom emigrated to this country from Germany. She came with little, worked hard, made a successful living, and raised a happy and traveled family.
Our mom was a nurse, which if you met her fit her personality perfectly. She was always eager to help and care for others. She loved tennis, and played often. It was one of the standing family activities to bring us all together. Many a doubles match was played with my father and brother. She and our father (also an immigrant) loved to travel and experience the world. We traveled always! Taking us out of school to travel abroad wasn’t even a thought. We experienced different cultures and worlds. It was the little things – blood oranges from a small market in Italy eaten in the hotel after a long day, the crazy drivers in Italy, skiing down a road in Switzerland thinking it was a trail only to realize that cars kept passing us, the street cleaners in Paris on wet early mornings, the band playing “One Tata Mera” (Guantanamera) in Puerto Rico to all hours – along with the museums, sites, and sounds. Our mom loved classical music which is probably where I get my love (maybe obsession) with progressive rock music. We always had instruments in the house – piano and violins. She was frugal for everything for herself (you could not get her to tell you anything she ever wanted for her birthday or Christmas), but was generous with others – buying gifts, paying for things, thinking of others.
She was a good soul. She will be missed greatly.
Love you mom.
