John A. Peterson, Jr.

John A. Peterson, Jr. (Jack) , born July 15, 1937 has passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 30, 2021. Jack to all who loved him, succumbed to Covid after confronting Parkinson’s for a number of years with grace and dignity.

Jack married Phyllis Jane Gordon on August 6, 1960, High School sweethearts who both attended Roosevelt High School together in Yonkers, NY. Jack leaves behind his devoted wife Phyllis. Phyllis has been his true love, married for over 60 years. Together they share their two children, son Chris Peterson & wife Gabrielle Peterson, grandson Jack. Daughter, Pennie Broncati & husband Paul Broncati, grandchildren Christopher & Ali Broncati, Bradley & Joelle Broncati and Lily Broncati. Great granddaughter Rosie Broncati.

Born in the Bronx and raised in Yonkers, Jack chose his degree in Sociology at the Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA. Jack served time in the Air Force National Guard and thereafter, joined Con Edison in the late 1950’s. In 1971 he was named Division Manager of Public Affairs and Personnel serving the Bronx and Queens. He served on the Board of the Bronx YMCA, the Parkchester Kiwanis Club and the Bronx Chamber of Commerce. Jack continued his service on the Board of the Westchester-Putnam Council of the Boy Scouts of America as Chairman of the Youth and Education Committee for the Private Industry Council. After 40 years of dedicated service, Jack retired from Con Edison in August of 1999.

Jack was a kind, gentle man who enjoyed the simple things in life. His family was his priority and he spent most of his summers basking in the sunshine at the Jersey shore savoring all his cherished memories with his kids and grandkids.

May my poppy Rest In Peace ❤️ I am so sad that he’s gone but i know he is at peace and in a better place now. I will miss him so much and his sarcastic/funny comments. His presence will forever live with all of us. I love you pop❤️❤️ To my family, you are all so strong especially my Nan, Mommy, and Uncle Chris. Life doesn’t seem fair sometimes , but from what I hear, God only takes the best. Mr.Peterson , you will be forever missed but you will live on in the hearts of all those who were fortunate enough to have known you. Rest in Peace Jack. With Love, Ann & Jeff

Jack Peterson was a loving father in- law who loved his family, and enjoyed them more than anything, and included me as part of his family. .Early on in my relationship with his son, I was fortunate enough to be invited to his retirement celebration and was brought to tears when he
included me in his remarks at the event. It was the first of many, many times when Jack made me feel special. I am lucky to have known Jack- I will miss him and all his gentlemanly charm.

We’ll remember Jack in many positive ways with a big smile and a great sense of humor . He endured Parkinson with grace, courage and resiliency . The love and tenderness that Jack had for his wife and family was very inspiring . Such a kind soul will never truly be gone , for he has left such a loving presence in our hearts .

I have known Jack and Phyllis since 1994. In both a professional and friendship way. It’s hard not to know them professionally, and not become Friends. They are both warm, caring, decent , honest , and very humorous Human Beings. I am so grateful to have been a part of their lives. Jack will be terribly missed. Mostly by Phyllis , for there is no Jack without Phyllis , and no Phyllis without Jack. That’s a wonderful tribute to true Love. My condolences to all who feel this loss. All are in our prayers . May His charm and class never be forgotten .
