He was happiest when he was surrounded by his loving wife of 56 years, Billie; his children, Peter, Kirby, Elaine, Lucy and Jeff and their spouses; and his nine grandchildren. He was an avid sailor, skier, golfer, tennis player, gardener, birdwatcher, bush-hogger and neighbor. He was a friend and advisor to all. All in all, a life well lived!! In the end, he was optimistic about life, he was able to celebrate an early Thanksgiving with his family, attend mass and go out to dinner. He will be greatly missed. May 12, 2024 at 1:01 amI was your mother’s helper one summer on the lake.I loved your children. They were adorable. I remember one evening Elaine would not stay in bed. She kept getting up and stood at the to of the landing. I told her to go to bed. She said , “ You are not the boss.”
I said” Well your mom wants you to go to bed.”
3 year old Elaine replied, “ She is not the boss.”
So I asked 3 year old Elaine,” Who is the boss?”
Elaine replied,”God.”
No argument there.
Well then I offered to read her a story from one of the many books she brought to bed with her.
I did that and sang her a lullaby and just sat with her till she closed her eyes and fell asleep.
She and her siblings were all very adorable children.
