O’Hara, Thomas Joseph December 10, 2019

Thomas Joseph O’Hara, 84, of Yonkers, NY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 10, 2019.

Tom is survived by his soulmate wife Diane of 50 years, son Sean, daughter Eileen (O’Hara) Bruen, daughter-in-law Susan (Civitanova) O’Hara, son-in-law Garth Bruen, beloved grandchildren Finnbar Bruen, Marina O’Hara, and Theodore Bruen. He was preceded by his sister Mary (O’Hara) Schramm. Tom was a loving father & husband, elated grandfather, and kind friend and neighbor.

Tom was born September 29, 1935 in the Bronx to Thomas and Eileen (Finn) O’Hara. He had met his wife Diane on the bus commuting to the Reader’s Digest Association, where they fell in love at the office water fountain; he remained employed there for over 30 years. Tom was often content with the simple pleasures of life – the printed daily newspapers, a good nap, a tasty hot dog stand, the smell of the beach, family dinners, listening to his grandchildren’s stories, and a lucky slot machine. He always had kind and encouraging word for others, was proud of the achievements of his extended family, and felt blessed to have lived such a long and full life.

A celebration of life for family, friends, and neighbors will be forthcoming.
