We have all lost a beautiful friend in Mary O’Brien. Mary gave selflessly to all she knew – or just met. She shared her generosity of spirit, love for Ireland and warm smile wherever she went. Mary made friends so easily. She loved traveling to Ireland and had a plan to visit every year – especially her beloved Donegal. We will miss you dear Mary. “May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.” (Traditional irish Blessing)

Mary was proud of her Irish roots, especially on one of her visits, when she shared a cup of tea with Oscar wining actress, Maureen O’Hara. Mary was an avid reader and one of the Bronxville Public Library’s most devoted patrons. It was always a pleasure to see Mary since she was always cheerful and positive, making her a staff favorite.
