Oakley, Eleanor T. September 25, 1931 - November 12, 2018

Eleanor Theresa Oakley died on November 12, 2018 at her home in Scarsdale, surrounded by family.  She was 87 years old.  Born in the Bronx on September 25, 1931, she was the daughter of Katharina and Franz Betsch. Her husband of 32 years, Vincent Thomas, died in 1989.  Eleanor is survived by her children, Vincent (Tracey), Douglas (Lisa), David, and Christine Judge (Raymond); grandchildren, Katharina, Madeline, Danielle, Elizabeth, Stephen, and Douglas, Jr.; and her sister, Madeline Betsch.  She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima for many years.  She excelled as a realtor for Prudential Ragette.  She enjoyed her lifetime membership at the New York Athletic Club and summers in Hampton Bays with family.  Her greatest joy was being with her grandchildren.  Eleanor made everyone feel welcome; there was always room for another person at her table.  Devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend and extravagant Nana, Eleanor will be deeply missed.  Family and friends will gather in her memory from 4-8 pm on Friday, November 16, at McGrath’s Funeral Home, 20 Cedar Street, Bronxville NY 10708.  Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am on Saturday, November 17, Sts. John and Paul, 280 Weaver Street, Larchmont NY 10538.  Interment to follow immediately at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne NY.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to CALVARY HOSPICE AT HOME c/o Calvary Hospital, 1740 Eastchester Road, Bronx, NY 10461.
