Patrick Neville passed away peacefully on Thursday January 26, just a month shy of his 93rd birthday, leaving behind countless friends and a loving family, including his daughter Kathryn, son-in-law Christopher; daughter-in-law Elizabeth, and four cherished grandchildren: Sean, Patrick, Conor and Reilly. He was predeceased by his adored wife Kay and his beloved son Kevin. The oldest of 11 children of Timothy and Helen, he also leaves behind dearly-loved siblings Michael, John, Stephen, Mary, Peggy, Patsy, and Helen; Teddy, Tim, and Nancy predeceased him. To them he was affectionately known as “Joey”, and they maintained lifelong, loving relationships.
He possessed many talents and a sterling work ethic. He loved to tell the tale of his early years working in a grocery to help support his family. He joined the Army at 17, learning to drive trucks and earning an Honorable Discharge; following that became a policeman in NYC. An enthusiastic student, he merited a scholarship to Fordham University and earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics. Always working to better himself, he went on to secure master’s degrees from Wagner College and New York University, and to forge a successful career in Purchasing and Hospital Administration.
A man of great faith, he was devoted to our Catholic catechism, was a lector, Eucharistic minister, and long-time supporter and member of Annunciation Church.
But nothing in his life compared to the treasure he found in one Miss Catherine Coghlan. Their first date and their wedding were within months of each other; they married in June of 1958. Everyone knew of his love for his “darling Kay”. When Kathy and Kevin came along, he was the proudest papa, loving and cherishing his children.
Anyone who knew Pat knew of his delicious “Silver Bullet” martinis, the story of the “diving rock” in which he directed the heist of a huge boulder from a vacant lot so the backyard pool would have this special feature– despite nearly crippling his son and son-in-law– and his love of philosophy, a topic on which he could talk “the ears off a brass monkey”.
Pat will be remembered for his quick wit, generous heart, and silly jokes. He is loved and will be forever missed.

January 30, 2023 at 1:35 pmMy condolences to Pat’s family. Pat always had a smile that would light up a room. I was fortunate enough to meet him at a men’s retreat. After that he joined our Parish’s Holy Name Society. We developed a friendship that was enduring. I visited him several times at the Fountains in recent years. Rest in peace Pat. You are with Kay and Kevin now. God bless you!

January 30, 2023 at 3:44 pmI grew up next to the Neville’s. Mr Neville was a great guy, very nice and a terrific neighbor. As the oldest of 5, 5, he certainly saw and heard a lot. I’ll never forget him calling the house early one morning asking me to turn the music down. “”I enjoy a party just as much as the next guy, but it’s 3am!” He will be missed.

February 1, 2023 at 7:15 pmOur sincere condolences to Pat’s family. We have such fond memories of our friendship with the Neville family throughout our many years living in Crestwood.
Our parents were dear friends with Pat and Kay and they held a steady friendship over the years. They enjoyed socializing and looked forward to their long-standing weekly game of tennis. They are truly missed and will always be in our thoughts and prayers.
May all rest in peace.

February 2, 2023 at 12:50 pmI admired his courage and determination in dealing with all the problems he had over the past few years which would have overwhelmed anyone let alone someone in their 80s or 90s. Both he and Kay had character and discipline.
