Warren was on of my best friends that I never met. Yes, that sounds strange… After my father died I became interested in his time in the navy during World War II. This path led me to Warren who sailed with him on the LSM 187. We found the ships logs, crew manifest and countless articles and books that he brought to life. From leaving the West coast to the invasion of Okinawa to mothballing the ship at the end of the war he filled in the blanks through the eyes of one of the last survivors. Our years of telephone conversations turned into a friendship that I’ll always treasure. Warren, I’ll miss you bon voyage.

Our thoughts and prays go out to the Nelson family.
We always looked forward to our chit-chats with Warren on our trips to and from the beach.
Warren taught a young Ryan how to surfcast and fillet fish. A lesson he has never forgotten.
Warren truly was the “Mayor of Atlantic Bluffs”. He will be missed by us all.
