Winifred A. Nation , died peacefully in Bethel, Ct, on January 8, 2017 at the age of 102. She was a longtime resident of Bronxville, NY, Redding, CT and Onley, VA. Always known for her fashionable hats. Beloved wife of the late Wilton E. Nation. Loving mother of Pamela Tatro, Priscilla Hart and Alicia Nation and grandmother of Russell Tatro and Karin Tatro Staschke. Mrs. Nation was a true trailblazer as she earned a NYS Opticians License and opened her own business in Brewster, NY. After moving to Connecticut she became the first woman to be awarded an opticians license in the state of Connecticut. She will be interred at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY. There will be a service on Thursday, Jan. 12, at 12 noon at the Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.
